Freshies Restaurant – South Lake Tahoe, CA

Freshie's Restaurant - South Lake Tahoe, CA

Located in South Lake Tahoe, Freshies is one of those restaurants that is very unassuming, but in the BEST way. Located in a strip mall right next to a few gift shops, it’s almost too easy to pass it on by. Luckily we were informed of the goodness of Freshies before heading to Tahoe! It blew me away with how tasty their food is!

Unsurprisingly, Freshies boasts some of the freshest ingredients in all of South Lake Tahoe. The menu is very innovative, bringing Hawaiian and Asian food together, making it seem like you are on the shores of a Hawaiian island instead of the mountains of Northern California.

The aloha atmosphere is great after a cold day on the slopes, warming you up on the inside and outside. During the summer months, they even have a beautiful outside deck overlooking the lake.

But my favorite thing, of course, was how well they cater to vegans and vegetarians, even using different fryers for their vegan and vegetarian food. My kinda place! I chose to try their vegan pho, which was SO amazing. They even had a vegan chocolate “cheesecake” for me to try. Nom.

No matter if you’re vegan, vegetarian, or a carnivore, you HAVE to try this place. All four of us (1 vegan, 1 vegetarian, 1 pescetarian, and 1 carnivore) enjoyed it so much.

The warm, casual vibe and the amazing food makes Freshies a great place to enjoy lunch or dinner after a day of relaxing on the beach, skiing in the winter, or even hiking or enjoying the lake in another way.

My guests and I received a complimentary meal from Freshies and Tahoe South for review purposes. However, I was not financially compensated for this post, and all opinions are my own based on my experience.

Looks great!! I’ve always adored Hawaiian cuisine, and any sort of fusion is right up my alley. Any chance they had Poke? It’s my favourite 🙂

Oooh I’m not sure. Since I’m vegan, I don’t really look for that, and if I see it, it won’t stand out in my mind. Their menu is online!

Wow you went with a diverse group of dietary restrictions, but yet all found something you enjoyed. I love when a restaurant cooks with super fresh ingredients. You can taste it!

It’s good when restaurants have the option for veg and vegans. I’m neither but it’s nice anyway because then all friends can enjoy under one roof.

Looks like a nice chill place. How are the drinks there?

I love vegetarian and vegan restaurants! Even though I haven’t quite made it to being a vegetarian, I aspire to (just need to muster the willpower to stop eating meat). I definitely respect people who are and restaurants that cater for it. These meals look delicious and the cheesecake looks to die-for!

Wow — everything looks great! Having living and traveled throughout Asia, I would love to see their take on certain food items. I also think it’s so cool that they use different fryers for vegetarian food — most places would not even think of that! Thanks for sharing 🙂

I’d love to know your take on it too! Although this was more of a Hawaiian/Asian fusion, so there’s always going to be differences of course. 🙂
